Window2Print
Implementation of Window2Print e-commerce, an online printing house with a European reach

About Window2Print and the task
In 2014, one of Europe’s leading printing houses decided to create an e-commerce solution that would compete with major market players such as Chroma and Flyeralarm. Our task was to develop a name, logo, and logo for the new brand, as well as design and implement a comprehensive e-commerce solution.
Branding new brand
Our sister company, Brand4Future, completed a comprehensive branding project, creating the new Window2Print brand. Branding for a new e-commerce project is always crucial at the outset, as it influences subsequent stages. A well-developed brand key visual and color scheme facilitate the creation of individual view designs and a cohesive system design.
Conceptual work, product tree
and functional assumptions
We began the process of developing eCommerce implementation documentation by gathering experience in handling printing and production projects from our client. Based on interviews with experienced company employees, we developed a product tree, a userflow with descriptions of all processes occurring on the platform, and a list of views with functional requirements (for both desktop and mobile versions).
Designed platform functionalities:
- Advanced calculators and product configurators for various types of materials (e.g., banners, flags, mesh, poufs)
- Price list management for various customer groups
- Promotion type and discount code management module
- Customer communication subsystem with automatic returns and complaints management
- Integration with printing house ERP systems
- Language version management for the e-shop user (managing new product releases, descriptions, warehouse displays, delivery dates) and language versions for various offices in Europe handling orders from specific countries
- GDPR-enabled customer databases adapted to European requirements
- Currency conversion capability (automatic price and shipping cost conversion)
- Integration with external payment systems and international logistics systems
Initial design, i.e. the visual style of the platform
During the preliminary design phase, based on the documentation developed in the previous stage, we prepared two versions of the home page, along with a presentation of the product subpage. The first version featured a dark gray background with tonal product fields, while the second was lighter, with a white background and contoured elements. Based on the preliminary designs, market research was conducted to evaluate and select concepts.

Development of clickable mockups
ready-to-implement mockups
Based on the collected data and the documentation prepared above, we created a clickable e-commerce model in Figma (so-called mockups) containing over 90 unique views of the e-shop front end and 76 additional views.
In addition to the front end views, we also developed an intuitive and user-friendly interface for e-shop users. Due to the multinational nature of the site, both the front end and back end could be displayed in multiple languages.
Support in preparing e-commerce content
The specific nature of e-commerce, especially with a very extensive product tree, requires the presentation of a wide variety of materials and the demonstration of production capabilities. As part of the implementation of the Window2Print platform, we developed a set of visualizations illustrating the products offered in the e-shop.
Preparing for publication
Before moving to LIVE eCommerce, W2P underwent a content development and rigorous testing process. As part of the testing, we performed:
- Manual testing in a test environment – we performed testing based on purchase scenarios prepared by the W2P support department.
- Load testing – our server administrator performed speed and load tests, including data exchange tests.
- Price and product display verification – ensuring correct display on both the desktop and mobile versions.
- After the transition to live, we re-ran the scenario testing on LIVE.
Post-implementation support
We provided technical support during the post-launch phase, even though the client’s initial goal was to build their own technical department. After approximately a year of collaboration, we prepared the documentation and code, including:
- A 1:1 test environment with the LIVE version, integrated with the client’s ERP system for development purposes.
- Clickable mockups in Figma, known as masters, for creating projects before implementation.
- GIT code repository.
