    About Centaurus Foundation

For 18 years, the Centaurus Foundation has been helping animals in Poland and around the world. As we read on the Foundation’s website: “it is difficult to count how many animals we have helped, but after all these years we are certain that our mission of saving animals will never end. There will always be an animal somewhere in the world that needs help. Together we can save and care for many lives.”

For the Foundation, our sister company Brand4Future implemented a branding project, and we were tasked with implementing a new website.

    Website Operation Assumptions
    and Preparatory Work

The Centaurus Foundation is the largest horse shelter in Europe and has a huge, over 1 million donor base without which its operation would not be possible. While working on the website, we analyzed information needs through research and interviews, and developed optimal paths for the website’s user Personas. In addition to Persona analysis, at this stage we prepared:

    • a list of views and functionalities based on the current structure of the website
    • a description of specific functions that were important in the Foundation’s operation, along with development functions
    • we conducted an SEO consultation so as not to lose current users and positions in the search engine

    Unique Features
    on the Centaurus Foundation website

What was the challenge? Showing thousands of animals, their stories and the history of helping. When building the website, we also faced a completely unusual payment system (many possibilities of donating funds and related system integration).

    • Animal Database – a module integrated with the centers managed by the Foundation, showing the history of care, including the health condition, photos of the animal, a description of its specifics, information about the caregivers, or the status of the type of adoption, e.g. virtual adoption
    • Donor Database – a module for communicating with an external Donor database, which allows for issuing Donation certificates, managing GDPR consents or communicating with Donors in order to show what their funds were donated to
    • Language version management – due to the implementation of aid programs in many countries, the Foundation expected the definition of the “ecosystem” of the Foundation’s websites at a global level, including multilingual management

    Desktop Implementation

We usually start the implementation by creating a dynamic section structure (thanks to this, in the future the person managing the page will be able to build subsequent subpages in the structure from this section base). We work on the home, implementing and optimizing both desktop and mobile. We left the integration of individual functions for the end, i.e. implementing payment systems or sending information to the Donor database. The implementation took 70 working days.

    Mobile version implementation and optimization

Due to the large variety of mobile devices (tablets, various phone models, IOS and Android systems), we spend a lot of time on display optimization. During implementation, we check the display of individual views, focusing on the most popular models.

    Preparing for publication
    websites

The final stage of the implementation was to deliver the finished BETA version (with all the functions and the introduced test content). The next step on our part was to conduct training for administrators so that they could enter the target content. In addition, we carried out the remaining preparatory work for publication:

    • manual testing on the test environment, including forms, links to social media, external integrations (donor database, payment systems, animal database)
    • optimization of the page loading speed
    • optimization for SEO, launching remarketing databases, website measurement
    • security tests
