eCommerce Payment Trends 2016

Online shopping is commonplace today. E-commerce experts have identified several payment trends that will dominate this year.
With customer comfort in mind, an increasing number of entities are deciding to sell online, and shopping without having to leave home is becoming the future of the retail industry. Building online stores should take into account the greatest possible comfort of use, including the introduction of modern payment methods.
Mobile direction
The first transfers in Poland were made in 1998 by people who were clients of one of the banks. Today, they are something normal and it is estimated that over 20 million Poles make online payments for the Internet, telephone, or simply – when shopping. Traditional transfers are starting to give way to online payments such as Dotpay, which are much faster to make because they do not require manual entry of data, which is more convenient.
Data from the Gemius report “E-commerce in Poland 2015” show that as many as 37% of Poles make online purchases using a smartphone, and every fourth uses a tablet for this purpose. Therefore, the possibility of making transfers using mobile devices is becoming increasingly important. This need has already been noticed by payment operators, who have started offering responsive payment gateways to e-shops.
Most people who decide to make mobile transfers do not have much free time. Fast payment services are a comfortable solution for them, improving the quality of life and saving time.
Deferred payments
Deferred payments are an interesting alternative for those who want to make a purchase at a given moment, but will only have the funds in their account in the near future (this time cannot exceed two weeks). At the moment, this type of payment is not used very often, but it is estimated that this year, as well as in the following years, the frequency of its use will increase. Deferred payment is also beneficial for e-shop owners, who, thanks to such a solution, record higher revenues – those customers who previously gave up on transactions due to insufficient funds in their account can now afford to make a purchase.
Installment payments
This type of payment is a nod to those who do not have the right amount of cash at the moment. This method is very simple – as the name suggests, it involves purchasing a given product, while dividing the payment into installments, which allows even more customers to make transactions via the Internet.
Payment in foreign currencies
More and more entrepreneurs decide to sell abroad. The first obstacle in such a situation is, of course, the foreign currency. However, last year a solution was found, consisting in the introduction of Dotpay International Payments. Thanks to this, e-shops have the possibility of settling not only in zlotys, but also in other currencies.
There is huge potential in the e-commerce market. Today, it is not enough to simply run an online store. It is necessary to strive to ensure the highest possible level of customer comfort, also in terms of payment methods and speed. Those stores that follow innovations are positively perceived in the eyes of customers, and as a result – these customers will be more willing to return to places where buying and making transfers is convenient.
