Top Google Searches of 2015

The end of the old year and the beginning of the new one are usually the time to sum up the last 12 months. Google did just that, and, like every year, provided a list of the most frequently searched phrases by Internet users.
Google is a huge source of knowledge and data about what is currently of interest to society around the world. The lists that this company presents to us every year are useful material when it comes to online campaigns and their creation – thanks to them, information about people’s interests and issues that interest them is provided.
So what did we search for most often last year? The number one global topic was the one related to the terrorist attacks in Paris. When terrorists attacked the capital of France on November 13, people from all over the world tried to find out what had happened and whether their loved ones were safe. As a result, information related to this event was searched for over 897 million times. The most popular phrases used were:
- What happened in Paris?
- Why did the Islamic State attack Paris?
- Is it safe to travel to Paris?
- How many people died in Paris?
- Who attacked Paris?
The second most searched phrase in the world was the Oscars. As every year, queries about the nominees, winners, and information about the best films were extremely popular. As a result, Google recorded almost 406 million searches related to this topic.
Another topic that the world followed with bated breath was the Cricket World Cup. Not very popular in Poland, but extremely popular abroad – information related to this event was searched for about 323 million times.
What were Poles looking for?
