KNOWLEDGE ZONE:blog
In our texts we share the experiences we have gained in many branding projects from very different industries. It is worth reading - everyone can find something for themselves in them.
How to take professional photos for an online store?

Online promotion is essential today. Customers often buy with their eyes, which is why professional-looking product photos are so important. This fact is related to the behavior of Internet users, who often ignore product descriptions (especially if they are too long) and focus mainly on the visual message. Therefore, well-made photos can be the key to the success of a given company in the e-commerce industry.
Amateur product photos will not ensure success for a brand. Photography has its own rules that describe exactly what factors should be taken into account when taking product photos.
It is recommended to light the product from behind, use different frames and use white as a background. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, because there are many more tips on professional product photography.

First of all – professionalism. It goes without saying that the selection of equipment, including high-end lenses, is extremely important. Proper lighting is equally important with equipment.
What seems nice to us in reality will not necessarily look the same in a photo. The most common mistakes related to light are taking photos into the sun or shadows that may be unnoticeable to the human eye.
Natural lighting is the best, but we do not always have the opportunity to do a photo session outdoors, which is why a reflector comes in handy. It is an inexpensive and easy-to-use item that improves the level of photography. It allows you to reflect light and redirect it to the product, thanks to which it will be well-lit.
The background is equally important, and white works best. All you need is a suitably large, white sheet of paper bent into an arc (so that sharp angles and refraction of light are not visible). This is a solution that gives a lot and requires almost no financial outlay.

Time for editing
Taking a good photo is one thing, and editing it is another. The final effect of how the photo will look depends largely on graphic editing. What to pay attention to? First of all, color saturation and shadows. Photoshop or (free) Gimp will be helpful. You should also remember to crop the photo while maintaining the appropriate size.
Despite all the advice offered by various websites, taking professional product photos is primarily practice, practice and more practice.
It is worth taking photos in different conditions, locations and using different lighting. The saying that “a picture says more than a thousand words” is true. That is why it is worth acquiring knowledge in product photography, which will certainly pay off in the future.
