Magento vs PrestaShop – a comparison

In Poland, online stores are built on various platforms. We have the popular WooCommerce, professional Magento, the popular Prestashop and many smaller systems that want to dominate the market. The software of each of the above must be installed on the server, which for some will be a disadvantage and for others a huge advantage.

    Magento
Free software for creating online stores, which also offers a paid equivalent. The popularity of this system in the world is very high. It is estimated that over a dozen percent of websites around the world are based on this software. The free version allows you to create a store on open source code, but a large number of advanced functions are paid. Magento allows data analysis and has built-in transparent reporting. It is also possible to manage several stores from one panel. Magento Commerce is recommended for large stores with logistics and warehouse management, which focus on many languages and want to have access to analytical functions.

    Prestashop
Completely free software, distinguished by ease of use and a multitude of options. The system is recommended for small and medium-sized companies due to its low maintenance costs (domain + server). It will be particularly appreciated by sellers who offer products in various price and color variations. However, the system imposes certain patterns and is not recommended for people who want to have freedom in personalizing products. With high requirements, expensive changes to modules will not be possible. Nevertheless, Prestashop should meet the expectations of most small and medium-sized businesses.

    Summary
Small companies that do not plan to expand significantly are often offered Prestashop. This is undoubtedly the simplest solution that will meet expectations in most cases. The expectations of large companies are usually much beyond the capabilities of Prestashop. This is influenced by the often required logistics and warehouse systems and much larger product databases.
