Top Farms
Implementation of eCommerce in the agricultural industry

About Top Farms and our mission
TopFarms is one of the largest and best-managed agricultural groups in Poland, operating on over 23,000 hectares of agricultural land and part of the international structure of Spearhead International Ltd. We were invited to prepare a website combined with an online product catalog for the grain segment.
Consulting process
and pre-implementation documentation
As part of the advisory stage, we conducted a series of workshops aimed at developing assumptions and documentation.
- Competitor Research – The goal of the search was to identify interesting industry features used by competitors or entities with similar profiles.
- Sowing Calculator Algorithms – We collected the data necessary to create calculator modules, as we lacked sufficient expertise in sowing.
- We discussed the functionality needs survey with the client from the user’s perspective after defining the Buyer Persona (1. Login, 2. Important features, e.g., price lists after logging in, catalogs, product availability, 3. Loyalty Program).
Given the specific nature of the agricultural market, the website was intended to maintain a product catalog function, facilitate the calculation of required seed, and improve the quality of service for each customer-farmer inquiry. In essence, it was e-commerce without a payment function.

High-fidelity
mockups
Based on the branding brief provided by the client (consistent across the entire TopFarms Group) and the UX work performed, we designed over 20 unique desktop views and a similar number of mobile views. Pre-implementation documentation included:
- Clickable mockups in Figma – allowing the client to assess the flow of the website and the operation of key features.
- Content specifications – guidelines for content structure so that the website always looks the same (number of characters in text fields, size and dimensions of image and video files).
Desktop and mobile implementation
The implementation work was divided into sprints (each sprint had 10 working days), including: 8 working days for developers, 2-4 hours for QA testing by the tester, 2-4 hours for corrections, and 4 hours for testing on the client’s side.
Management and progress control:
- In the Monday.com system, we maintained a board accessible to the client and the team, where we monitored project progress by running Daily and Weekly reports.
- The client reviewed a given sprint and provided feedback in sprint comments.
- Sprint closure, acceptance protocol, and work settlement were all handled remotely.
- After the implementation was complete, it took us about 4-5 days to test the so-called BETA version, ready for content.

Unique Features on the Top Farms Platform
We’ve prepared a grain catalog and unique sowing calculators on our website.
Creating sowing calculators at Top Farms is a precise, multi-step process based on agronomic data, precision farming technology, and the experience of our experts. These calculators take into account factors such as seed variety parameters, soil type, sowing date, expected planting density, and local conditions. This tool allows farmers to quickly and accurately calculate the optimal sowing rate for a given crop and order quantity – supporting efficiency, cost savings, and crop quality.

Preparing for publication
To prepare the website for publication, we carried out the following work:
- Content and data validation, including data for seeding calculators.
- Checking the functionality of all forms and links.
- Responsiveness testing across devices and browsers.
- Loading speed optimization and resource compression.
- SSL certificate and security configuration.
- SEO settings implementation (meta tags, headers, URLs).
- System training to enable the client to provide content (due to the need for thorough content verification).
Technical Support
and Development
We always offer post-implementation support, in which we plan development tasks 3 months in advance, we conduct work status and ongoing communication based on the Monday.com system, and we meet periodically for workshops to improve the created website.
What do we provide during regular service?
- Continuity of team knowledge and expertise – even when the client’s team changes.
- Design system / design lab / clickable mockups – we keep key graphic designs ready for changes/development.
- 1:1 test environment and code repository – we maintain a copy of the system in a test environment and maintain a code archive.
- Ongoing maintenance updates – we ensure up-to-date and reliable operation.
The implementation price always includes full copyright to the designs and code, with the right to make any changes.
