27 Grudnia
Educational website about the only Polish victorious liberation uprising - the Greater Poland Uprising.
About the website of the Greater Poland Uprising and our role
Our agency was founded in Poznań, so the implementation of this project was a tribute to our ancestors for their steadfastness in the fight for Poland’s independence. We created the first version of the website in 2012, then we gave it a facelift for the 100th anniversary of its creation in 2018. The new branding was created by the Double Brand Agency, and we were the team responsible for transferring the design into virtual reality. We were responsible for the design, functional concept and implementation of the website.

Website concept and preparatory work
While working on the concept, we were inspired by interesting Polish implementations (such as the website of the Warsaw Uprising Museum) and foreign solutions (Dublin Rising with narrator Colin Farrell or Night Walk in Marsellie).
- We conducted a persona analysis – we distinguished several personas, including: 1. A teacher, who has the greatest influence and passes on knowledge about the Uprising 2. A descendant of an insurgent, i.e. a member of a very large group of people living in the Poznań province 3. A tourist – with little knowledge of the Uprising, treating it as a curiosity.
- We developed a description of the specific functions and method of operation of the Website – our goal was to restore the spirit of the Uprising and show those times. Due to the educational aspect of the website, we developed a concept of lessons about the Uprising and materials for them, which could be used by history teachers
- We prepared a preliminary design of the home page in mobile and desktop versions, so that our Client, the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Province, could feel the direction in which we were heading

Content preparation - content,
video and photos
For the needs of the Uprising website, we developed and created all multimedia content. When writing the texts, we worked with enthusiasts of reenactment and teachers, we obtained old photo content from home archives, and we organized a photo session of the virtual Insurgent thanks to reenactors in the Old Poznań Fort. The effect is the authenticity of both the emotions and the space of the Wielkopolska Uprising.

Unique Features on the website
- Virtual walk through the history of the Uprising – using Google Street View, allowing comparison of current streets and places with views from 100 years ago. Learning history through storytelling through city streets.
- Lesson material configurator – a tool that allows teachers to add interesting materials from the website to their lesson (clipboard) and print them out in the form of a lesson plan.
- Questing – is discovering the heritage of a place by traversing unmarked trails. The aim of completing the route is to solve logical, historical and terrain puzzles, in order to discover a hidden treasure at the end of the journey.
- Virtual Insurgent – stories in the form of a diary. The Insurgent-Guide told his story during a walk through the streets and historical places, as he remembered those days.

Graphic design
and preparation of clickable mockups
For the creation page we developed complete, clickable mockups of user views, in the desktop version over 40 unique views with supplementary views, we performed an analogous design scope for mobile. At this stage we also developed a full content specification for the page.

Desktop and mobile implementation
The implementation of the site took us a little over 2 months, the front of the site was made in the Angular framework due to the smoothness of the animation. Due to the large number of video elements (e.g. with the virtual Insurgent or the walk in the Footsteps of the Uprising) we paid a lot of attention to loading optimization.

Preparing for publicationthe Uprising website
When conducting each implementation, we use the same processes to ensure that the quality of the implementation is maintained. Due to the specificity of the Powstania website, where we also acted as the Website administrators, we only skipped the training stage.
- BETA version – all development and preparatory work was carried out on a dedicated test environment, not publicly available
- manual testing on the test environment, including forms, links to social media, external integrations
- we optimized the page loading speed by properly configuring graphics, video
Technical Support
and Development
The Marshal’s Office entrusted us with the implementation of the first website in 2011, and returned to us for the 100th anniversary in 2018. For 10 years of cooperation, we were responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the website, development work, and technical support.
In the implementation price, we transferred full copyright to the designs and code with the right to make any changes.
